Why I Run, Just Run

I was recently given the opportunity to run with and help train my long-time running partner. When we first started running together, we both won races and broke records... I am not that same kid I was all those years ago. I have been in accidents and all the ups and downs in life, such as he has been as well. I have also evolved in my years as an athlete, to not just running; triathlon, river ratting, coaching, volunteering, directing races, a board member... My mind set of competing and also being a star athlete has changed, when I run, I just want to run.

My friend on the other hand has been talking about a world record tour (for age group records), for about three years... Granted, covid happened and the race industry, like all, took a hit affecting many's race plans.

It takes an extreme amount of focus, time, dedication, sacrifice to be on the top of your game in running, triathlon, and life! I have come to the point in my life, for the past 5 years or so, where I really want to focus on the life part, so that in my later years I can maybe see what my older body is capable of. I am also in a point of my life where I don't want to spend all hours trying to kill my self to be in top competition shape, I just want to run, be fit and feel good.

Why I run, why I run with others-

Why I run is to be in that run. Not thinking about all my problems or responsibility, but to be in that run. To feel my body, to feel tight and sore spots, to feel where I am strong in my body. I want to breath while I run and focus on that vital breath for life. I want to feel my breath fueling my run, my muscles, my heart so that I can complete the run with full breath and life. I want to smell the smells of a run. In early morning to smell people cooking breakfast (oh that bacon!) and see them all rustling around in the house, lights coming on and everyone waking up... I want to run in, see and smell nature. The fresh smell of grass cut, or pine, or a creek... I love the smells of nature on my runs. I want to listen to my heart and listen to my running partners breath and steps. There is an overwhelming calm and pure peace is listening to these three things. This is probably the deepest love I have for running is listening to the heart, the breath and steps, because those represent life to the core. Conversation during runs is invaluable. Learning each others strengths and weaknesses and overcoming challenges together. Getting lost or exploring the side trail every now and then. Running in new places. Running with big groups. Running up hills or even mountains and then enjoying the view.

These things are worlds more important than any record or medal or t-shirt! It is unfortunate that not everyone values are the same. This is why I run, Just Run

Being Grateful

I have had some people in my life that never seem happy, grateful or satisfied with anything. Every situation is a crisis to react to or needs fixing... A lot of these people are well off, have a nice house, have a nice life, yet in their mind they have chaos... Why?

In most cases, I have realized that these people have not found gratitude. We live in a fast world with devices, and everything is at our fingertips. People feel intitled and that if they don't get their way or what they want right then their flight or fight starts kicking in. This is a societal issue that many of us have learned about with intensity over the past few years... I think things are about to change in a big way.

If we each find gratitude for being alive, being able to breath and wake up, for family and friends, for food on the table, for warm clothes, for having a sound mind... Gratitude is the main individual antidote for living in our head of a crazy, busy, intitled, greedy world.

Then once we have found gratitude, we pay if forward and help others to find their gratitude, happiness, passion and love for every single moment in life.

Growing Old and Grey?

Recently I have been hanging out with some older guys, quite frankly I have a hard time keeping up!

Anyway, my lifelong mentor and running partner who is over 20 years my senior, does not age! After 30 years of running together, I have yet to beat him in a race, unless he stopped for some reason.

Do you know any folks out there that grey and wrinkle with age and some that don’t?

Why is that? You want to know the secret?

It is called oxidation or oxidative stress. This happens at a cellular level. And it has everything to do with how we nourish and protect our cells. Many factors go into this-

  1. Are we getting whole food with all the colors?

  2. Are we getting a healthy amount of sun?

  3. Are we hydrating appropriately?

  4. Are we staying active and moving enough?

  5. Are we getting enough rest?

  6. Are we aware and eliminating toxins in our life?

Maybe you will see an investigative report on this more. But ask yourself or friends who age grey and wrinkly how they have practiced these things?

As always, I will share one of my easy buttons, is to take Juice Plus. The most researched nutritional product out there on how to reduce oxidative stress, among other studies.

Porch Sittin

Recently I was fortunate enough to have two fabulous porch sittin sessions. Porch sittin is when you sit on the porch and have a good, long, needed conversation.

One of these sessions with my Favorite Professor, Moe Johnson. I highly respect this man, even though I feel like I let him down in a way...

I have been through some recent life events, and it is refreshing to talk to Moe, because he gets it. He knows my history, my accomplishments, and my short falls. But he also understands how things work. He sees how a lot of out things get over complicated and under done, wrong. He sees what I put into the things that I do, how much I care and how overlooked I am. I hope to get another lunch or porch sit with Moe soon.

The second porch sittin session was with one of my good friends and coworkers with High Five. Mike and I could be labeled "the opposite side of the isle", but fact is as much as people want to think, I am A-Political (Against Politics and FOR Public Health and Safety). Twice now, Mike and I have had a "political discussion" but the amazing thing, is when two people have a deep conversation, they find out that they have more common ground in thinking vs the virus of the divide. Deep thought and conversation is the actual antidote for the virus of the divide.

I am so grateful for these two conversations and Porch sittin talk. How about you go try it!

Growing Seeds

Have you ever started seeds? What happens when you see the seedlings? How does it feel when you eventually grow a full plant or garden?

It is a pretty amazing process. I always feel like a little kid wondering "is it going to grow?"

Growing seedlings also put a perspective on that big debate on when life starts. Watch my video on growing seeds- https://rumble.com/v11twoc-seeds-and-how-they-grow.html?mref=8jtfj&mc=9t8us

What other benefits to growing seeds?

Like I said, it kind of makes you feel like a kid again. It is also a great activity and learning for kids! If you have a spouse or family, gardening is a great bonding experience.

It is for sure a stress reliever working in the garden. It also might have other health effects- Garden Your Way to Lower Blood Pressure - Gardening Channel

Again, I am going to bring up the issue with supply chain and the fragility of our food sources. If you grow some seeds into seedlings and then grow a bigger and bigger garden each season, you have less to worry about having a food source if others fail. Athlete Eyes

Have you ever looked into the eyes of an elite athlete. Have you seen that look? Seen the determination, sacrifice, win mentality, and gaze that looks past the moon and the stars?

I can always tell by that look that someone is an elite athlete or someone who has tested their limits. First, they have to have the passion and willingness to give their all towards an effort. Then you see the hours and hours of training and sacrifice of turning down that family gathering or class party. Then you see the pain that they have had to endure to push themselves and test their bodies and spirit.

This is a special breed and far and few between the true greats, but the secret is, that we are all capable of more. We are all able to test our limits. We are able to do and be more. We all have it in us, just some of us need to dig and explore our passions more.

It should be on all our bucket lists to explore what we are capable of. Isn't that the meaning of life, to find out why we are here and to go to all limits to reach that place? You can find your passion, get up off the couch and go find it. Spend hour and hours on something that you are so focused on you forget to eat and what day it is. Sacrifice your time towards parties or meaningless things to surge towards this massive effort of being your best self. Feel the pain, that good pain of busting barriers, as the pain only makes your stronger and expands your limits.

What are you going to do?

Watching the Birds

Did you know there are more bugs than leaves? There are actually a lot more bugs if you are counting the microscopic ones. I heard one time that if you dig up some dirt, there are more bugs that stars in the sky. Well anyway there are about a nano million on earth and that is 10 with 30 zeros...

How aware are you of all this? Do you ever just sit and watch the clouds and the birds in the sky?

The other morning, I was walk/running along the San Marcos River trail and this huge owl came out of nowhere and attacked a hawk sitting in the tree. Normally, while the birds are squawking and flying around, like most of us I ignore them. But lately I have been trying to be more aware of the birds and everything around me.

While I was walking and these birds were fighting, I took a moment to just watch and try to figure out what they were doing. The owl flew over and swooped the hawk one more time, then flew back to his tree. The hawk kept squawking and then, one of his buddies flew over and perched on the light pole. I waited for a few more minutes and did not see the owl come back to attack. Then I was thinking what in the heck is the owl still doing up as the sun was coming up...

Later the same day I was getting gas, and someone had spilled nuts on the ground. There were already a bunch of birds hovering around the spilled nuts. Again, I took a moment to watch them. There was one that was brave and ran right up and got a nut (they can only eat one at a time). Then there was a scrappy one that chased the other away and stayed near the nuts for a while. Although it seemed he had a bit harder time getting a nut to stay in his mouth. Then a couple of other birds came into to steal the nuts the scrappy one had dropped.

So in the few seconds I was watching these birds at the gas station, I saw an example of peaking order and different personalities. It would have been interesting to see how long it would have taken and the drama of them finishing the nuts.

Hey, NicktothePLUS, why in the heck are you talking about birds?

I guess when you have been through life altering events, such as, losing a loved one, moving, getting married, having a new baby in the family... You kind of step back sometimes and learn to appreciate the small stuff, like birds and then realize the magic of life, the earth we live in and all the possibilities.

In some sense there are so many crazy things going on in our world today, it is calm and gift to just watch the world around you sometime to reach some sort of sanity.

Give it a try and tell me what you see and think!

Total Body Reset Part 3

Thank you for following our little series here on a total body resent, I hope you are finding value in this information.

Are you toxic? How do you know if you are toxic or not? Allergies, getting sick all the time, headaches, cancer or other chronic disease? All of these can be caused by toxins in our system as well as weight gain.

In this article "How Toxins Cause Weight Gain" they claim that most of us are exposed to over 700,000 different toxins on a daily bases. Isn't that wild to think about? What is more wild is thinking what our poor bodies have to do to rid of toxins? One thing it does is with fat forms a "prison" around toxins to protect our body and organs.

So in short, in some of our cases we have to be aware of the toxins we are being exposed to. Then figure out how to eliminate toxins in our life. And finally figure out how to help our bodies rid toxins and reduce the need for fat protection.

In this article "10 Natural Detox Straategies to Cleanse Your Body & Lose Weight" they list-

  1. Eat the right foods

  2. Support your gut

  3. Reduce inflammation

  4. Support your immune system

  5. Supplement your natural detoxification

  6. Minimize exposure

  7. Drink plenty of clean water (without toxins)

  8. Sweat out your toxins

  9. Get good sleep

  10. Visit a Doc, Chiropractor, massage therapist, nutritionist, get your blood work and identify toxins.

I Hope all this helps in your journey in a Total Body Reset. If you need any help, contact nicktotheplus@gmail.com and #LivetothePLUS

Total Body Reset Part2

In part one of Total Body Reset we discussed making lists of;

What we like about our selves.

What we don't like about our selves.

What we can control and what we can't.

We also talked about making a plan and some form of accountability.

accountability

Now that we have that base we can start on that plan. 80% of what happens to our body is what we eat and 20% is our activity or calorie burning.

What can we eat to reset our body? First we need to start with what we should eat less of.

PROCESSED FOODS! The number one culprits for attacking our body are processed food which also include empty carbohydrates. Processed food have chemicals in them that prolong shelf life, they are also toxins that can hurt our bodies. Empty carbs which is what a lot of processed foods are, can also be flour tortillas (my weakness is tacos), pasta and white bread.

The three biggest contributors to poor health and an attack on our bodies are:

  1. Processed foods

  2. Processed sugars(ex. Corn syrup)

  3. Empty carbs

While we are on empty carbs, we can talk about good carbs. Good carbs are whole foods that have sustenance. The best example is roots! Root foods like- potatoes, sweat potatoes, radishes, beets, and turnips. What I like to do to get more roots in my diet is to make a stew. There also a lot of recipes out there to make great root dishes.

Like roots, the more whole foods you eat with the 5 different colors of the rainbow, is the simplest rule of thumb with nutrition. Diets and fads are out there and you can read and research and decide what is best for you. My best advice is to do your research, try different options (not extreme), pick something you will stick with and continue to be aware of the effects on the body.

Before you make any major changes, go in to get your annual physical, consult with a doctor and if you can visit a nutritionist or health coach.

Total Body Reset

Are you happy with your body? Has there been a time when you were happy with your body and then fell off? Do you think it's possible that someone you think is chiseled or beautiful is not happy with their body? Do you think most people most the time are either complaining about their body or trying to get it better? Why can't we be satisfied or reach a happy place within our skin?

With all these questions it might be best to consider that we need to reset our body but reset our mind as well. This can be accomplished in different ways, but most importantly is how we focus our intentions and goals.

We can start by writing three lists. 1. Write out what you like about yourself and body

2. Write out what you dislike about yourself and body

3. Write out what you can change and can't change

What we can't change about ourselves or our bodies we need to come to acceptance or make a deal with our self on how we will not dwell or beat our self up over it. Once we get this work done, we can move on to make a plan to carry out what we can change.

We can join a gym, hire a trainer, call a friend to be an accountability partner, or make a contract with our self to help us stay on track. Keep a log of your progress so you can see what you have accomplished even though it might seem like a lot at first. When we form a habit by keeping to a routine for at least two weeks or more.

Corporatization vs Local Small Business

Do you remember the day of small business, mom-and-pop shops, and when everyone knew you when you walked into the store? Are these times and memories gone for ever?

Now we have big boxed stores, managers looking to make an impression/ make their mark, and "leadership" that doesn't even know what all you do.

It seems these days you can do your best work, break company records, be great at customer service. Yet, if you are not a yes-man or don't agree with everything going on, or question your bosses, you will be targeted and not given opportunity to advance.

In my experience, you can talk to managers, directors, VPs, and they now how to do what they are told from higher up, but they know little to nothing about much of anything else. It seems they don't want real thinkers or creators anymore, check box checkers and bottom liners.

What does all this mean? What will happen with these monopolies and suits running around being over booked with meetings and doing busy work? What will happen when they are so focused on the P&L vs seeing the big picture of what is going on in the world? Our supply chain is super fragile, about 15 different things that could be catastrophic at any moment. Our soil isn't what it used to be making our produce less nutritious. With recent events such as covid and lock downs less people working, means we are making less stuff to be on the market. With gas prices and inflation people are buying less stuff. I saw on the news that Target missed projections by 90%... It goes on and on.

The giants of business might not have glory for much longer. I feel natural selection and competition will hopeful bring back small business and mom-and-pop. Because if our global economy and supply chain fail. We will be forces to produce food, products and services on a more local level.

We now have War, What Next?

Good Day Awesome People!

We are on the edge of the cliff. One of two things can happen;

1. We jump off and continue to free fall to who knows how far
2. We turn around and start to heal

So how do we turn around?

  1. Be grateful for what we have and realize it can always be worse.

  2. Live to the PLUS- make any negative situation into a positive experience.

  3. We stand together and demand our freedoms and country back

  4. We remove our failed government and failed systems

  5. We reclaim our independence as MEN and WOMEN

  6. We organize and redevelop local systems and support

  7. We follow the LAW of MAN and WOMEN vs corrupt, greedy, and evil

I may be wrong, but I have been right about most of what has happened over the past two years…

Things to consider-

1. Do you have your own garden?
2. Do you have storable food?
3. Do you have alternate power?
4. Learning more about soil and regen power?
4. Would you consider a community resource?

Are you a leader or some one who cares about your community, neighbors and well being? Do you feel like you need to do something but feel helpless?

Power in numbers and masterminds…

Living to the PLUS, Exit the Matrix of Life!

Good Day Awesome People!

Are we really Living in a Matrix?

Fair waring the below is deep and heavy but needs to be said and shared. We are in times of crisis and need to be prepared for change, change in society, change in self, change in thinking, change in everything we know!

Last week I talked about the Laws of Nature and the “unlaws” that really seem to control our lives… I get into this a bit deeper.

Above video and podcast are the same recording, but if you want to listen in your car you can on the pod.

Are we really living in a Matrix?

Over the past two years, well really the past decade, I have been doing a lot of soul searching. I went through divorce, losing my kids, losing my job, recovery, relationships, then building back my live to the PLUS!

More specifically I have been doing a lot of writing over the past two years or so. I went through an exercise call Self Authoring, check it out.

Through this process of writing, I learned a ton about myself, my past, how it has affected me and a plan to move forward. It was a life changing experience and continues with practice…

Two of the main learnings I walked away with was-

  1. That I learn and think differently than I was taught in school

  2. and that a feeling I have had all my life is valid- that the world we live in is not what it is suppose to be…

What the past two+ years has really shown us is how broken our systems are and how they have controlled our lives.

It seems the more we get into our current “crisis” these systems are trying to control us even more in panic and breaking even faster…

The systems-

  1. The sick care system that has broken the Hippocratic oath

  2. The financial/ credit or debt system, the average person is in $20k+ debt

  3. The Social Media or “Social Dilemma”, if you have not watched this movie…

  4. The main stream media, they are called “programs” for a reason

  5. The criminal or “correctional’ system that isn’t correctional

  6. The labor system that locks everyone into a “Job” vs living your purpose

  7. The supply chain that disconnects us from knowing where our food comes from and locks us into convenience and materialism

  8. Our infrastructure…

All these systems are failing us in some way and speeding up in their failure at a dangerous level…

PLEASE TELL ME I AM WRONG!

I send out these emails and try to share on social media sites and have been censored, canceled, shadow banned… After predicting most of what has happened over the past two year, that should give me credibility. But it seems like the more that comes true the more we are suppressed…

WHAT TO DO?

  1. Get back to and learn who the individual you are. You as an individual is the key. We are all lights of energy and are all unique and all have something to give this world.
Ask, is who you are right now fully serving that purpose? Or are you who have been told what is your path?
Find who you are but really get deep, deep in thought and deep into self. Check out the SelfAuthoring.com write your thoughts, write about your self, write to re-meet your true self…

  2. Find out what you were really supposed to do, not what they told you were supposed to do.

  3. Reconnect to your true self, find your passion and reconnect to that passion. Believe in yourself, don’t be afraid, go into uncharted waters of yourself. Reach your full potential and purpose!

  4. Reconnect, in person, to your community. What is your community? Is your community where you live, or a community common with what you think or who supports your thinking?

  5. Reconnect to the earth and food and nutrition. Food is thy medicine and we have been made to be dependent on manufactured food and convivence.

  6. Help others through the above process, to build community and support… Through crowd sourcing, freedom of information and resources, we as a people will overcome all challenges! By LIVING TO THE PLUS!

Are you Living to the PLUS with the Laws of the Universe?

Good Day Awesome People!

The Philosophy and Psychology of The Laws of the Universe and Living to the PLUS

Above you see I made a Video and Podcast first about the passing of a great mentor, Bob Proctor, then about the Law of Vibration, finally my video about the rest of the Natural Laws of the Universe. I am no expert on these topics but exploring and learn more while bringing you along for the ride. Continuous curiosity and learning is Living to the PLUS!

In this week’s writing to stay on topic, I am going to write about the philosophy and psychology of the laws of the universe and what is a law.

Again I refer to the Plato Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy.

The Basic Question: What is to be a LAW?

  1. Laws at least appear to have a central role in scientific practice.

  2. Laws are important to many other philosophical issues.

  3. Laws have a connection between lawhood and confirmability by inductive inference.

The Twelve Laws of Nature or the Universe

  1. The Law of divine oneness

  2. The Law of vibration

  3. The Law of correspondence

  4. The Law of attraction

  5. The Law of inspired action

  6. The Law of perpetual transmutation of energy

  7. The Law of cause and effect

  8. The Law of compensation

  9. The Law of relativity

  10. The Law of polarity

  11. The Law of perpetual motion

  12. The Law of Giving and receiving

When most of us think about laws we think about speeding tickets or drinking and driving and maybe if we are robbed…

In my past podcast, I talk about the Law of Man and Woman here

Most “laws” are really legality or policies we “obey” these days are contract law as if we are a vessel or ship… That is why we need lawyers, vs speaking and defending ourselves with our WORD in front of peers… the legal system has become more and more complicated, hence lawyers, when the simplicity of “was there trespass” is all we need to function as a society… Also troubling it seems the “law” maker are being pretty Lawless themselves…

What bothers me most is as with universal laws and the law of trespass are somewhat mystical (because we are not taught them) or not spoken about much, is that we live under these unlaws (disregard for natural LAW) that have huge effects on our daily lives, yet no one really talks about them…

What is Nick to the Plus talking about? The Unlaws…

  1. The unlaws of marketing, programming, and propaganda. These unlaws tell us what to do, manipulate us or attract us to bright and shiny things subconsciously…

  2. The unlaws of attempting to wedge, divide and to stigmatize. To politicize an emergency, safety or health response

  3. The unlaw of Keeping up with the Jones’s

  4. The unlaw of worrying what other people think about us

  5. The unlaw of uncertainty while being made to choose between two basic human needs of health and income/security…

  6. The unlaw of clocking in and clocking out to work to live vs living to do what we love, to be our best selves and reach our potentials as a Man or Woman… The unlaw of entrapment in JOB vs contribution and growth…

  7. The unlaw of tyranny, gross negligence, and more… Has the Hippocratic Oath been upheld? The unlaws of not being able to trust sick care professionals anymore…

These unlaw affect all of our lives greatly, they shape and lead us to where they take us...While we are not told, educated, or taught the natural Laws of the Universe!?

Do you not agree? If we focus on the Natural Laws vs the unlaws, would life not be better? Living to the PLUS?

Are you Living to the PLUS with your Microbiome?

Good Day Awesome People!

I don’t know if you have noticed, but I have been pumping out a crap ton of content. I submitted my manuscript for my book to a publishing company so wish me luck. I am trying to pick a topic each week and do a video and pod and writing here all relating to the topic.

I have also discovered HARO or Help a Reporter dot com. Each day I get emails with queries from reporters looking for content. This is in hopes to get published more broad and share LIVING TO THE PLUS! Also, it forces me to write the content and then I can share what I wrote across social and my blog. I think this keeps me out of trouble and distracted from writing “mean tweets” lol!

The Philosophy of treating the body and Microbiome VS Medicine

Above you see I made a Video and Podcast about the Microbiome. I am fascinated about the microbiome and what it does.

In this weeks writing to stay on topic I am going to write about the philosophy of the microbiome, working with it and treating the body vs going against nature, playing god and treating with medicine for everything…

I Googled Philosophy of Microbiology and found this link from Stanford

They had these points-

  • Microbes carry out the bulk of biological activities on the planet. They were the Earth’s first lifeforms, and lie at the base of every major transition to new forms of life.

  • Microbiology is a science that has given rise to modern medicine, molecular biology, genomics, molecular evolution, and numerous other fields, all of which generate rich philosophical discussion.

  • Microbes have capacities to be used as material models of general phenomena in experimental settings.

  • Contemporary microbiome research shows how microbes and microbiology can inform broader philosophical discussions about human nature, individuality, and causality, among other topics.

What has been glaringly apparent to me over the past two years MSM has said “follow the science” but our leaders and top “health” advisors have not been “following the science”. Heck I talk more science than those that make the big bucks! Shoot.

I have made a note to have as a future topic the history of medicine and the affects on society…

The fact of the matter is the innovation and technology of medicine is great for emergency medicine and life threatening disease. BUT we over use it for Chronic Disease by adding man made toxins into the body and are currently in a horrible death spiral of more chronic disease.

For some reason, the medical field thinks they are smarter than GOD or Nature and that they can solve the health issues of the world while they have CAUSED the health issues of the world.

We have gotten away from health. Our thinking is that we can take a pill or cut something open and problem solved. NOPE!

The pill is mainly treating symptoms and not root cause. By treating the symptoms they create side effects and then more problems and then the need for more meds, it is a viscous cycle.

When was the last time you knew someone go the to the doctor and start on medication and the doctor had a conversation with them, “Well this will be our time line, and this is what you will have to do to get off this medication in our time line…”? NOT

The medical business model is designed to create repeat customers! Prove me wrong.

What do you we need to do? Is get back to nature, get back to basics and reconnect to self, GOD/ Nature, our environment and each other!

This is where the microbiome comes in. There are trillions of microbes around, on and in us ALL WORKING TOGETHER. It’s almost like we as a people are that kid in the outfield playing with bugs and picking flowers while the rest of the team is playing to win the game…

We are so disconnect with ourselves, our health, nature, our microbes most people don’t even have a clue they exist! Just go get a pill is the philosophy.

Most of us over the past two years put all our trust into the “experts” and abandoned all common since, science and history of how to take responsibility of our own health…

I am giving yall an assignment:

  1. Watch my video and pod (Above), think about it for a bit and then let me know what you think. nicktotheplus@nicktotheplus.com

  2. Spend 10-30 min doing a bit of research on your own about the microbiome and general health.

  3. List three things you are doing to harm your health

  4. List three things you can change over the next month to benefit your health

  5. Read my blog on getting back on track

One simple thing you can do is get on Juice Plus! Just a suggestion.

Live to the PLUS!

Tips and advice for people in need of a reset and getting their life back on track.

First off they need to have an awareness for the need or want to have a reset. They need to identify what aspects of their life are "holding them back" or causing "health issues". I was told, you can't improve something unless you measure it. So, if they have not had one in a while, I advise people to go get a full physical and blood work. Request to be told the deficiencies, toxins or any dysfunction that is contributing to poor health.

After having a physical, they will have a baseline on where they are. Next they need to determine where they want to go, like on a map. Finally, like on a map they need to plan their route to get to where they want to be.

There are tons of resources and articles online to help one plan this route. Seek out a professional nutritionist, dietitian or trainer to help guide you on your path.

Simple things we can all focus on to rest and get our life back on track, only focus on one at a time to create habit and then move to the next-

1. Eat more whole foods and less processed foods

2. Drink more water and less soda or alcohol

3. Move more and less TV and or devices

4. Breathe more, sit down and purposely do breathing exercises. Meditation or prayer can be incorporated into this in order to...

5. Reduce stress, find your stressors in life and start eliminating or reducing those stressors

6. Get more deep rest

7. Love more and pay your better life forward. Fulfillment is truly in helping others and including them in your better life.

Am I just Lucky?

Am I just lucky?

The last time I was deathly ill was in 1999 in College Station, TX. I was living alone and as I recall, this was the last time I took the flu shot…

Other than that, I have had days where I feel off or times I need to just crash for 12-14 hours and then good as new. I don’t even have allergies that bad or often.

Am I just lucky?

For the past ten years at least I have been taking my Juice Plus. Not always super consistent and regularly but for the most part I feel that has been an assurance. But also try to be aware of getting enough fruits and veggies, lots of color in my diet.

I don’t drink a lot of soda, a lot of sugary things or processed foods. I try to hydrate as much as I can, just the good ole H2O.

I deal with stress as much as the next guy, but feel I am aware of when I am stressed and have different copping mechanisms. Breathing, meditating, letting go, praying…

Getting outside and in different environments I feel is a contributor to good health and well being.

There are times I don’t get enough rest but then after going for days and weeks hard, my body tells me and I’ll crash and get rest.

Then there is just plain genetics and getting enough activity and exercise in your routine.

People around me get sick and I keep on trucking…

Am I just lucky?

I am not sure, but I wish, during these times, they would have spent more time on specifics on special populations. Why do these people get sick and why do these people not get sick. I might have missed it but it seems just these observations and sharing of information would have not cause such a lengthy and dramatic affair over these past two years.

My advise has been the same the whole time-

  1. Know your health, know your numbers. Get a physical and blood work to know your nutritional deficiencies and toxins.

  2. Get nutritional advise on how to correct those deficiencies and remove toxins.

  3. Be aware and practice most of the above mentioned- eat a whole food colorful diet, minimize sugar and processed foods, hydrate, minimize stress, get outside and in different environments to build your microbiome, get rest, be active, be positive and LIVE TO THE PLUS!

Paying Attention and Speaking Up!

Good Day Awesome People!

There was a horrible crime in a city ally way. A woman was attacked, beaten, sexually assaulted and then murdered. This crime took place over at least 30 minutes with crying and screaming. This was in the city, so the ally way was over looked by dozens if not hundreds of resident windows. The body or the crime was not reported until the next morning. Many people heard the cry’s and screams but they said one of four things-
1. “I was afraid”
2. “It was none of my business”
3. “I did not want to get into trouble”
4. “I was sure someone else would call or help”

When I was 10 years old I was swimming in the Comal River with my family. My dad was in the water playing with my baby sister. My mom was sitting next to me on the shore. I was taking a break from swimming and watching some fools jumping off the bridge…
All of a sudden, while I was watching most of the jumpers jump feet first, I then saw one of them dive head first. This instantly peaked my attention. Like the ally way story above there were many other witnesses on the river who saw the man jump. Only after seconds did every one seem to just ignore what they saw, did not process what happened and went about continuing to float down the river.
I did not have one of the four excuses from above, I immediately shouted out to my dad that “that man did not come up”. I guess people heard me say this and it peaked some more attention. My dad told me to hand him his mask (he already had fins on…) and he went to save the man. Sure enough the man was laying at the bottom of the river bloody…
My dad pulled him out and my mom being a nurse held the belligerent/ drunk mans hair so as to hold C spine…
I am not sure what ever happened to the man after being carted off in EMS, but I will never forget that day… He did not die under my watch…

What is my point to telling these two stories? Welp, we are in crisis. I have been trying to talk about and warn about this crisis since before covid even showed it’s ugly head. I pay attention, I ask questions and I am not afraid to speak up when I think something is wrong or someone needs help. In our current condition, society needs help. I am only one person and can and have made some impact on somethings, but we will not get out of this crisis until MORE OF US stand up and be aware, ask questions and speak up about the wrong doings going on.

The time is now, to Live to the PLUS!

Working on yourself to get stronger, healthier, smarter and better informed.

“God give me the serenity to accept the things I can not change and the courage the change the things I can change and the wisdom to know the difference”

Start getting involved in your community, research the books/community finances, go to town hall meetings, listen to the problems and how our “leaders” are managing the problems. Speak up when you think something is not right or we could do better.

Reach out to your neighbors, check on them, connect with them (in person), talk about challenges and goals in your community. Know that yall got each others back…

Learn how we can develop and grow local food systems. I think the supply chain will get worse before it gets better. So have a plan, stock up and learn what you can do to grow your own food. Make it a community thing.

Pay attention, ask questions, learn, get involved, reestablish community and LIVE TO THE PLUS!

PS I would love to hear feedback from you on what you are doing or ideas you have on how we can support each other and get our safety, health, families/communities, growth and contribution back…???
